Solheimajokull Glacier Viewpoint Details
From the parking lot, there is a sign marking the path that leads up to the viewpoint. The path is a dark dirt and pebble track, so wear sturdy walking shoes with good grip and watch your footing.
The viewpoint offers a platform behind the roped off lagoon and snout, and makes a great place from which to capture photos and video. It is also the perfect spot to pose for a selfie, with the lagoon and the glacier making a picturesque backdrop.

An interpretive sign at the Solheimajokull Glacier provides information about the glacier and the landscape.
From the parking lot, it is about a 15-minute walk one way to get to the Solheimajokull Glacier Viewpoint.
Some visitors walk the dirt and pebble track beyond the viewpoint to get to the edge of the glacier ice, but a sign warns you of the risks, from quicksand to loose rocks.
From the parking area, you can also walk another spur path to a viewpoint for the Myrdalsjokull Glacier.
