Solheimajokull Glacier Lagoon
The Solheimajokull Glacier Lagoon can be found at the base of the glacier and has been formed by the meltwaters of the retreating glacier.
With floating icebergs and placid waters, the lagoon at Solheimajokull Glacier is a picturesque spot, well worthy of photos!
It started as a small pool of water in the early 2000s but has rapidly grown because Solheimajokull Glacier is receding quite a bit every year.
The lagoon is currently several hundred meters long and a few dozen meters deep, and kayaking is a popular activity here.

The water in the lagoon replenishes the Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi River.
You can walk to the edge of the Solheimajokull Lagoon in about ten minutes from the car park at the Solheimajokull Glacier parking lot.
