Driving Directions to Sólheimajökull Glacier from Reykjavik

From Reykjavik Center, take Route 49 (Miklalbraut / Nesbraut) for 4.1 kilometers (about 2.5 miles) to Route 1 South, also called Hringvegur or Ring Road.

Drive on Route 1 South to Sólheimajökulsvegur (Route 221) in Mýrdalshreppur (approximately 157 kilometers, 97.55 miles).

Make a left onto Route 221 and drive to the parking lot at Sólheimajökull Glacier (5.2 kilometers, 3.23 miles).

From Vik, take Route 1, also called Hringvegur or Ring Road to Sólheimajökulsvegur (Route 221) in Mýrdalshreppur (approximately 26.7 kilometers, 16.59 miles).
